Murray Sayce is the Global Head of Sustainability Solutions for BSI’s assurance business stream, involved in the design, development and deployment of new solutions and services at global, regional and country level for the Group that has a presence across 90 offices in 30+ countries. He also participates in the concept and development of new standards, working closely with BSI’s national standards body entity. He has more than 25 years’ experience in Corporate Sustainability & ESG, Climate Change and EEHSS management, and has developed and delivered various sustainability related solutions to deliver business assurance and performance across all sectors. He has previously worked for the ERM group as Principal of its Certification and Verification business, Ramboll as Head of Corporate Sustainability and Bureau Veritas in the UK, France and the Middle East, as the Global Product Manager and Technical Director for Sustainability Services, incorporating sustainability and climate change-related business services.
Murray has worked extensively with reporting and rating standards and frameworks, developing protocols, and delivering assurance to clients through consulting and audit-based services. These include the GRI Standards, the AA1000 Series of Standards, CDP, SASB, DJSI, various ISO standards for EEHSS and carbon management, Emissions trading, Climate Bond Standard, ISAE3000, and sector-specific frameworks.
Since 2015 Murray chaired AccountAbility’s Working Groups for the revised AA1000 Assurance Standard (AA1000AS v3), and for the revised AA1000 AccountAbility Principles (2018). He also is a member of the IAF Working Group for ESG Assurance, the IIOC ESG Working Group and the ISO Project Committee developing a management system standard for the SDGs. In addition to professional qualifications and affiliations, Murray holds Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from Manchester and Leeds Universities, and is a Fellow of the Institute for Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (ICRS).
